Darmstadt and its four surrounding districts Darmstadt-Dieburg, Groß-Gerau, Oldenwaldkreis and Bergstrasse form a creative conurbation of economy and science, technology and nature, town and countryside as well as education and culture.
Engineering competence: On barely 2,600 square kilometres, engineering skills unite in the different industrial sectors of automation, automotive industry, chemical and pharmaceutical industry, IT and communication, logistics, aerospace and regenerative energies. The engineering sector, accounting for more than 130,000 employees, provides over a third of all jobs in the Engineering Region of Darmstadt Rhein-Main-Neckar. more
Qualified employees: Highly qualified specialists coming from the very own "Engineering hotbed" of the University of Technology Darmstadt, the University of Darmstadt as well as the faculty of Engineering Sciences at the University of Applied Sciences Wiesbaden/Rüsselsheim, offer prime quality in research and education. Scientists and entrepreneurs successfully work hand in hand on trend-setting projects in more than thirty research facilities and numerous co-operations between economy and science. The Fraunhofer institutes LBF, SIT and IGD, the ESA/ESOC or EUMETSAT are only few examples of research organisations in this region.
